Marie-Alix Isdahl is a theorist, writer, and practice-based researcher whose work focuses on the desires, economies, and material and cultural histories that underpin images and their circulation. Her curatorial projects often centre on emerging artists and moving image.
She holds a PhD from the Department of Art and an MA in Critical Theory from the Department of Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she has also taught as an Associate Lecturer in Critical Studies. Her research has been supported by the Henry Moore Foundation, FORART – Institute for Research within Contemporary Art, Goldsmiths Graduate School, and several Goldsmiths Research Support Awards.
Isdahl has lectured and delivered public-facing presentations at institutions including Goldsmiths, the Sorbonne, Goethe University, the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Kunstnernes Hus, the Momentum Biennial, and the University of Oslo, among others. Her writing has been published internationally, and she has held a range of editorial roles, including editor-in-chief. She co-founded SCHLOSS (now closed), an artist-run gallery.
